Our Programs

Noah Homes’ Programs are designed to be person-centered and to consider the personal preferences and choices of each resident.  Emphasis is placed on experiences that will foster the growth of the whole person, promote self-esteem and enable each individual to develop new skills.  A supportive environment encourages each person to expand his or her horizons and to become more independent while learning both to explore and enjoy what the surrounding community has to offer.

Noah Homes’ staff are skilled in helping the men and women make strides in their ability to perform daily living skills and to become more self-sufficient in caring for themselves. Promotion of a healthy lifestyle through educating the residents about diet, nutrition and exercise is a prominent aspect of training. 

Physical health is promoted through active participation in programs such as Special Olympics and Sports for Exceptional Athletes.  The thrill of competing in team sports in an atmosphere where everyone can be a winner and become physically fit at the same time is definitely desirable.   Popular sports are bowling, track and field, basketball, swimming, bocce ball and ice-skating.

Leisure and recreational activities are vital to well-being and opportunities abound for the men and women who live at Noah Homes.  Events such as dances, parties, and special occasions offer the residents a ready social milieu.  In  addition, a variety of outings are offered:  visits to local attractions such as Sea World and the San Diego Zoo, taking in a movie and theater events, dining out, harbor excursions, picnics, concerts, spectator sports, theater events, and musical and cultural performances.  Vacations provide a possibility for fun and a break from the “regular” life.  Trips to the Grand Canyon, Disneyland, Catalina, Washington, D.C., Graceland, San Francisco, Las Vegas and other destinations are always popular.

Opportunities for spiritual development are also offered.  Residents can attend worship services, Faith and Light Group, and, at times, put their beliefs in action by being involved in service projects,   Faith communities welcome the Noah Homes residents’ participation and value their presence.
